About

Pear & Pumpkin is a childrenswear brand based in the Brontë Country, designed and made exclusively by Laura Jane Kerry. Taking shape and pattern inspiration from a bygone era whilst enforcing an ethos for hardwearing, homemade, slow fashion.

Laura’s admiration for all things vintage, vibrant and voluminous was firstly ignited by her wonderful mother, Joan. A seamstress herself, she taught Laura everything she knew about the art of sewing, knit and crochet from a very young age. In 2017, Laura graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a First Class degree in BA(hons) Fashion Design with Textiles. During her education, Laura moved to London and Paris to work for designers such as Christopher Kane, Molly Goddard and Markus Lupfer. Here, she learnt invaluable skills in the world of fashion which have ultimately helped shape her design identity.

Born and bred in the historic village of Haworth, Laura was lucky enough to have the moors as her playground. Loose fitting, durable clothes and a pair of wellingtons were all that were needed for the day. As a firm believer that clothes shouldn't inhibit playtime/ hinder the imagination, Laura ensures that everything she creates is designed with adventure in mind.

All of Pear & Pumpkin clothing is designed, pattern cut and manufactured from scratch, in the spare room of the house that Laura shares with her fiancé Ross, baby daughter Darla and cocker spaniel Nellie. Her mission is to create fun, playful garments with a strong nod to nostalgia. Laura’s mother handed down her treasured box of buttons, which she makes use of daily on her garments, in an attempt to reduce her need to buy new. By doing so, each piece of clothing breathes new life into components that could otherwise end up in landfill. It’s for this reason that every garment will have slight variants to the fastenings, adding to the bespoke nature.

Big love, Laura x
